The Rothberg International School

The Rothberg International School (RIS) serves some 4,000 students annually and offers a variety of academic programs with a large selection of courses in English, Spanish, French, Russian and Hebrew. This unique new program, initiated jointly by the Rothberg International School (RIS) and the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (JAMD), combines artistic training in dance skills and technique with academic exposure to Israel's challenging social, historical and cultural environment. DanceJerusalem offers university-level artistic and technical training in the disciplines of Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance Choreography, Repertoire and Improvisation.

Starting spring 2011, Jerusalem Sounds is a new and unique initiative of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (JAMD) and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Rothberg International School (RIS). Studies include a full music program consisting of individual instruction, performance in small and large ensembles and classes in Jewish and Israeli music. Students also choose from a wide range of university courses in Religious, Israel and Middle Eastern Studies, Behavioral Sciences and Environmental Studies, as well as Hebrew Language.

Government and Politics in Israel (First-Year and Gap Year Students)

Government and Politics in Israel (GaP) is an initiative of the Rothberg International School (RIS) and the Menachem Begin Heritage Center, the state memorial and research center entrusted with commemorating the legacy of Israel's sixth prime minister. The program is designed for outstanding Jewish high school graduates, who study Israeli government, politics and society, as well as Hebrew and Arabic, in a specially tailored nine month program that includes trips and extended hikes across Israel.

Supreme CourtMishpatim Program

The Mishpatim program aims to present an overview of current dilemmas faced by Israel's legal system, focusing on constitutional issues as well as international law. Students will visit the Supreme Court and meet with prominent representative of the State and also tour Southern Tel Aviv with refugee aid workers. The course will include lectures by top legal researchers as well as by Israeli legal activists, working for non-governmental organization on cutting edge legal issues. The city of Jerusalem and issues related to the peace process will also be discussed by guest lecturers. The course will be moderated by Ofer Shinar Levanon, a lecturer and doctoral candidate at the Hebrew University.

MechinaPreparatory Program - Mechina

The Preparatory Program–Mechina provides an introduction to academic studies and language instruction to recent high school graduates as well as recently discharged soldiers who plan to continue their undergraduate studies in Israel and/or wish to improve their chances for admission to the Hebrew University .The year-long program serves as a gateway to the Hebrew-speaking Israeli society, while helping the student refine the skills necessary for entering the University in the following year. Two trends of study are offered: Humanities & Social Sciences, and Exact & Life Sciences.

Hebrew and Israeli Culture ProgramHebrew and Israeli Culture Program

This academic program will enable recent high school graduates on all Hebrew levels to achieve a high degree of fluency in Modern Hebrew through full immersion into the language and culture of Israel.  In addition to 10–14 weekly hours of Hebrew language instruction, students will take, in both Hebrew (at their level) and English, a wide range of "immersion courses" in Israeli Politics, Culture, Historyand Society. They will also have the option of taking an introductory-level course, in such areas as Psychology, Business Administration, Math, International Relations, Middle East History, Archaeology, and much more.  Participants will not only benefit from first-rate academic instruction, they will also enjoy a special "Israeli Culture Program," including study trips, hikes, and tours around Israel, as well as opportunities to interact with a diverse selection of Israeli communities. All this while living 15 minutes from downtown Jerusalem on the beautiful Mount Scopus campus.

LL.M. ProgramNew LL.M. Program in Human Rights and International Law

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem Law Faculty (HUL) has launched a new LL.M. Program in English, focusing on Human Rights and International Law. The Program offers a rich and advanced course of study in human rights and international law, fields that constitute an important part of the HUL’s long-standing reputation of academic excellence, and in which the HUL is a hub of international activity. The Program will open in October 2011 at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, one of the world’s leading academic institutions, which is situated in Jerusalem. The University and the city provide a stimulating academic environment and a unique backdrop to the study of human rights and international law. The Program is run in cooperation with the Rothberg International School of the Hebrew University, and with the Minerva Center for Human Rights of the Law Faculty.
